Veterinary Nurses

Amanda Cooke RVN
Practice Manager

I joined Ewell Veterinary Centre in 2006 as a Veterinary Nurse after qualifying in 1997. My background includes working at referral practices, with a special interest in medicine. I am proud to be a Registered Veterinary Nurse, attending many educational lectures throughout the year but spend most of my time on the administration side of the practice. I have undertaken management training and qualifications to help to ensure things run smoothly. I have a house rabbit called Noel and outside rabbits Nigel, Hazel and Nutmeg.

Kate Sakela

Kate Sakela BSc (Hons) RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined Ewell Veterinary Centre in 2017 after graduating with a first class honours degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2014. I spent 2 years working in a busy practice in Liverpool and in 2016 I also became a Pet Health Counsellor after further study. This has given me an opportunity to actively promote nursing clinics in nutrition, weight management, senior health and mobility which I particularly enjoy. I have been made the ‘Cat Advocate’ for EVC and am currently working on making our practice a Cat Friendly Practice approved by the ISFM.

Outside work, I enjoy my weekly horse rides on Wimbledon Common as well as travelling around the country. I am now studying for a Master’s degree.

Elena

Elena Sweeney BSc (Hons) RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse

In 2014, after graduating from Middlesex University with a first class honours degree in Veterinary Nursing, I joined the team at EVC. I have a keen interest in nursing exotic and wildlife patients as well as cats and dogs. I run our nurse clinics and particularly enjoy helping our clients manage their pets' weight.

I am on maternity leave currently after the arrival of our first daughter Emilia. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cooking and crafting.

Louisa Williams RVN

Louisa Williams RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined Ewell Veterinary Centre in January 2017. I have previously worked in other first opinion practices and a referral hospital which also specialised in emergency and critical care. I have an English Bull Terrier called Vern and a cat called Sweep who I hand reared since he was two days old. Outside of work I enjoy snowboarding, kayaking and walking Vern.

Louise Furtado
Receptionist, Veterinary Nursing Assistant

I joined Ewell Veterinary Centre in 2011 to complement both our reception and our nursing team. I have a great deal of experience of both roles from working in other veterinary practices for many years. I complete your insurance claim forms and administer the Ewell Pet Health Plan. I have a collection of cats at home acquired over the years!

Rachel Goodsell

Rachel Goodsell
Student Veterinary Nurse

I came to EVC on my school-arranged work experience in 2015 and was offered an evening position to help the nurses over the next couple of years. My detemination to follow my dream means I have now joined the team full-time to become a Student Veterinary Nurse. I love all kinds of animals and these are my two dogs.
